Discussion: Get Caught Reading: For non-Adults Only?
The 23rd edition of the New Delhi World Book Fair will be held from 14th till 22nd February at Pragati Maidan. Besides being a huge bookstore with more than 1.000 exhibitors NDWBF is also a forum for all kinds of events around books and publishing.
Four international experts from Germany, France and Singapore in conversation with Benny Kurien, Publishing Editor & Rights and Acquisitions Officer, National Book Trust will talk about the culture of reading and reading promotion initiatives worldwide. Renate Reichstein, Foreign Rights Director, Verlagsgruppe Oetinger (Germany), Judith Habermas, Foreign Rights, Dumont Verlag (Germany), Manuel Carcassone, CEO Stock Edition Hachette Livre (France) and an expert from Singapore will lead a discussion on how to best promote reading – not only amongst kids!

After her MA-Studies of History and Philosophy in Freiburg, she first worked from 1980 to 1984 with a research project of University of Hannover on the history and architecture in Luebeck. Besides her work as Rights Director since 2004 she is member of the board of the Association of German Children’s Book Publishers (avj) – an honorary post.

Trained as a bookseller, she started her career in publishing after having studied history and German literature as sales manager at a small independent feminist press, then worked as foreign rights manager and editorial assistant at Verso Books based in London, UK before taking her present position at DuMont Buchverlag in 2001.

He spent twenty years in the Editions Grasset, discovering authors such as Frédéric Beigbeder, Karine Tuil or Virginie Despentes. He has been the managing director of the Editions Stock since July 2013.
